Lightning... the Underrated Killer.
It Strikes Inside and Out.
Safety Seagull Says: "When thunder roars, stay indoors. Une your brain. Don't wait for rain.

Do...

Move immediately into a substantial building or hard-top metal vehicle if you hear thunder. Keep the windows up. Stay away from plumbing and electrical appliances. Keep off the beach -- and away from trees, pools, lakes, and rivers. Pay attention to weather forecasts before planning outdoor activities. Stay inside for 30 minutes after the last sound of thunder.

Know that anyone struck by lightning may require CPR immediately.

Safety Seagull Says: tune into NOAA Weather/All hazards Radio!"

Don't...

Be near doors or windows.

Use corded phones or plug-in devices.

Be in contact with equipment connected to electrical power.

Be in contact with water or plumbing.

Take a shower.

Do dishes.

Don't get caught outside -- during a thunderstorm, no place outside is safe.

But if you are caught outside:

Don't be the tallest object in the area, or near the tallest object.

Don't stick with a group. Spread out to avoid multiple lightning casualties.
